Located between The Greens and Al Barsha, Tecom Barsha Heights lies roughly two kilometers inland from Palm Jumeirah and is bounded by Sheikh Zayed Road, Hessa Street, 1st Al Khail Street and Jebel Ali Racecourse Road Dubai.

Apart from a handful of mid-rise buildings, everywhere you look you see high-rise towers. Construction began here in 2006 and by mid 2022 some 110 buildings had been completed and a further 11 were being built. Until 2016 the district was called TECOM after the name of the master developer of Dubai

There are variety of opinions about the quality of the apartment buildings, but they appear to agree that this is a pleasant enough place to live, albeit lacking in open green spaces. Those living on the higher floors of the towers have great views across to The Greens community and to Palm Jumeirah.

There are good supermarkets and plenty of shops and restaurants throughout the district serving all types of cuisine. These include many licensed restaurants in the four- and five-star hotels, notably Grand Millennium, Byblos, and Media Rotana.

Completion of the central pedestrian plaza has made a massive difference to the tecom community. The place comes alive in the winter months, especially after sunset, and now you can walk across the development without trudging through sand pits. And this matters, because a plus for many is that with the metro station close by you don’t need to own a car if you live here.

Greenery, landscaping and proper metered parking spaces have replaced the  parking lots that once defined Barsha Heights or Tecom as almost everyone in Dubai still calls it. New trees have been planted across the entire pedestrian area, and there are plenty of benches and shady places to sit. The greenery is well-maintained, and it’s rare not to spot a gardener or two pruning hedges.
